Ford Transit Custom voted Van of the Year 2018

Voted for by the editorial teams of VansA2Z and Van Fleet world, the latest generation Ford Transit Custom takes the Van of the Year 2018 crown, as well as receiving the Best Medium Panel Van gong. The results of the UK’s annual Van of the Year awards were revealed on 22 March, 2018 at an industry lunch held at the home of English rugby, Twickenham Stadium.

Commenting on the award VansA2Z editor, Neil McIntee, said: “The latest generation Ford Transit Custom is bristling with all the latest active safety features, connectivity and driver comforts. A recent round of revisions brought it bang up-to-date, including the option of an automatic transmission and much improved levels of refinement. All in all it's a package that few, if any, of its rivals in its sector can beat."

Ford has really upped the ante when it comes to driver assistance tech on the updated Transit Custom by offering a host of the latest systems found on passenger cars as pick ’n’ mix options. These include Intelligent Speed Assist, that uses Traffic Sign Recognition to automatically keep within the speed limit, and enhanced capabilities to the Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection emergency braking system introduced to Custom in 2016. These new features add to the suite of technologies already available, including Lane Keeping Alert, Driver Alert, Auto High Beam, Rear View Camera, Adaptive Cruise Control and Side Wind Stabilization.
